French and lovely . . .

Even though french pop is not my cup of tea I really like Yelle. Music to cheer you up guys and gals. I adore it! Apart from this I think she's very, very cute. To be honest she's too cute. Check her out and fell in love with her, the french way. Je t'aim mon amour.

Yesterday, I was listening to this while I was working out at the gym. It sounds sissy but it had the same results as 16-ish skatepunk! Cool!

True to promises kept . . .

Straight Edge the way it should be.
As passionate as it can get.
You don't have to be a cute straight edge boy who refuses to drink beer.
You only have to be true with yourself.
Unfortunately they called it a day.

"In Spite of Everything"

I can climb on the mountains
I can cover all the seas
But i'm affraid that i'll never meet
The man who explain me what's life is

We can cry about adhurence
We can shout about true till death
But time will show and now we grow
And live , in spite of everything

Only now and only here
We're able to afford be real
Don't be affraid and open your heart
And you will never want to look around.

P.s. The cover is just amazing (I didn't spoil it at all). Read a review here.

Blessed by nationality . . .

and did those feet in ancient times trod on america's pastuers of green?
and did that anthropocentric god wane with their thoughts and beliefs all unseen?
i don't think so, he's up there with the others laying low,
vying with those who you've traded your life to to bless your soul,
and have they told you how to think, cleansed your mind of sepsis and automony?
or have you escaped scrutiny, and regaled yourself with depravity?
now we all see, "religion is just synthetic frippery,
unnecessary in our expanding global cultural efficiency"
and don't you fear this impasse we have built to our future?
ever so near, and oh so austere

When the true messiah rescues us from ourselves . . .

Ok, this blog is nearly dead, i admit it. But i'm so tired, for real i need a long break with no thoughts at all. Only lying on a golden beach with my beloved mates, drinking, swimming and chasing pretty girls. Meanwhile my favorite punk band, Bad Religion, performed at my home country. Unfortunately i'm miles away for the time being but i will attend their show at the lovely manchester acedemy at late august. (By the way, tomorrow Converge are in town - no doubt it will be a great show, i'll let you know).

So, because of this 'listening to Bad Religion all day'-phase i'm through i grabbed again a really nice book i read every now and then. It's called "Is Belief In God Good, Bad or Irrelevant" - A professor and a punk rocker discuss science, religion, naturalism & christianity - by Preston Jones (the professor) & Greg Graffin (the punk rocker - singer, songwriter of Bad Religion). Give it a read. It is worthreading. Here's one interesting paragraph by the christian professor.

"But i also noted how much we agree in terms of general outlook - which doesn't suprise me. Like you, i know that even if i am successful at making a small part of the world better, the general trend is in the direction of oblivion. People are self-destructive - i think of overfed americans watching three hours of tv a day; of corrupt african governments starving their people, who slaughter one another in ethnic and tribal conflict; of mindless reproduction in spite of poverty; of poor use of water, etc. And i know that if we don't kill ourselves off, or if someone power greater than us doesn't intervene, then eventually the sun will burn out."

P.s. Buy the book and read it while you're listening to Bad Religion!

Hope street (to let) . . .

keep on searching
keep on running
suicide eyes
just keep hunting
for new hearts
to break
for old wounds
to make
no one will break your fall
keep on moving
keep on hiding
in ripe new lives
you are destroying
finding comfort
in their wreckage
you kill new hope
with old pain
no one will break your fall

p.s.2 Ok it has been awhile since the last "music" post (actually there is only - lazy me! - one until now) but i will try to write some lines during the next few days suggesting you something good (hopefully!). Meanwhile have this PERFECT photo. Surely for many of you this is a just a concert picture but i adore it. No doubt. Rise Against is a kick ass punk band and you better check them out. And for god's sake, this is not just a silly concert picture. It's passionate and revolting as fuck! Not to mention the band's logo! So, you people of the world RISE AGAINST because so many Good Things Left Undone !!! Take Care . . .

Remind me to breath, When i can't catch my breath . . .

When i first listened to oOoOO, before a week or so, i was really shocked. No words to describe this unique band and its twisted vision. If i should use common terms to give you an idea about what is going on with oOoOO i should mention words such as "minimal", "ritual noise" and "weird indie/pop" (the good way). The music is based on haunted beats over which bittersweat/twisted synth themes are taking place. Is like waking up in the night during your sleep and start waking around with no consiousness at all. This band creates landscapes dedicated for the odd aspects of your character, using things normally lead to weak, silly pop tracks. And this is the real deal, their talent of "distorting"!

Furthermore, the band posts no specific info about itself on myspace. Also, my little search on the net had not any result. Propably there are two bandmembers, according to their photos, but who knows? So here it is! A mystery band and its mysterious aura utterly suited to this magnificent music. The mistery is enhanced after a glance on their label site (Disaro Records) which is full of interesting, rather spooky, artists.

Another thing that makes this band so much adorable, at least to me, is the DIY attitude they promote. Forget about the lifeless manufactured cds printed by major record companies. Those things are always something inbetween plastic shit and plastic meaningless shit. oOoOO print their art to limited cd-rs embraced by handmade sleeves! That means your copy will be one of a kind and special! You know, you can listen to great music while you are "exploring" the package. I haven't order my copy yet but i will defenitely do that next few days as there are only 100 copies. Great band after all, you must give it a try asap!

The shame of blogs to come . . .

Hello guys and gals of this shitty world,

"Too Many Brides In Black" is another blog dedicated to arts and especially to music. There will also be some posts about science (in its original form - i don't give a fuck about how fast is the new Ferrari) but i promise they will be very few and not so often (so, don't be scared if you had an E on maths at school). Music has the first place here and the majority of posts will present bands i think you should check before you die, or at least after you do that. All genres will be covered unless they have to present something unconventional, strange and twisted. In addition i will try to post things related to arts in general, from videos to great photos (some of them taken by me - in this case delete "great" and add "trashy"). Lastly i may review some gigs i attend to. At this point i should underline that there will be NO downloading links. I think it's really easy to find whatever you want, you don't need me to provide you links.

In addition, for the past two years i have been contributing (and i still do) to a metal/rock/etc. webzine, called Avopolis.Metal (give it a try if you speak greek). Some of the things i wrote for this site have never been published, so i am planning to post them here. To give you an idea, there is a VERY interesting Cult Of Luna interview somewhere in my pc. If i am lucky enough, i'll find it.

Someone may say that there are already millions of similar blogs and the world doesn't need another one. You are right, but i don't give a fuck! It's free and nobody forces you to read this. You can give it a try and if you see there is something good on it you keep on reading. If not, place you hand on your "300-button-i-use-it-to-play-online-games" mouse and press "X" on the address bar, then go kill yourself. You see, it's easy after all.

There will not be regular updates as i strongly believe that someone has to focus on quality rather than on quantinty. Moreover i don't have too much free time to fool around my pc. Also, posts will be, mainly, short and precise. Pages written full of shitty, useless info are like a kick in the head, i'll avoid this (or i'll try to - nobody is perfect).

First, normal post, later on or tomorrow.

Take It or Leave It.
